What does being a positive reinforcement establishment mean?
My Dog Spot uses only scientifically proven, reward based training methods when handling your pet. We will not use leash pops, harsh corrections or physically manipulate your pet in any way while your pet is in our care. While your pet is in our care we prefer to use our recommended harnesses and leashes to ensure the safety of both your dog and our walkers. We do not use prong collars or choke chains regardless of whether these devices are trainer recommended.
How do we sign up for services?
The first step is fill out our contact form on this website with as much detail about your needs as possible. As soon as we get your form and information we will reach out to you to set up your meet and greet. After that you are allocated an account in our pet sitting software from which you can schedule services.
I only need a 'sometimes' walker can My Dog Spot help me out?
Every client that signs up with us becomes an important part of our My Dog Spot family. When you come on board with us we customize a service package for you that suits your individual pup/s needs. Furthermore we monitor your pup/s as time goes on to ensure they are getting the best quality service or experience for their age/breed/activity levels. For this reason we only accept clients that require regularly scheduled services with a minimum of two scheduled appointments per week.
How do you get in and out of my home?
We usually ask that you provide us with two sets of keys to your home or apartment when we come for our consultation appointment. One set we keep in a lockbox on your property for the walker to access and the other is kept at our office location in case of emergency.
How do I know if my dog has been walked?
Our pet sitting and dog walking app will alert you as soon as the walker has completed your walk by sending you a friendly note with photos of your pet from the walk. GPS map included. All clients have access to their own account within the app from which they can schedule and cancel appointments.
What is your cancellation policy?
All scheduling and cancellations can be done online through our app. We understand that life can be unpredictable so any cancelations made before the end of business hours (6.30pm) the night before go uncharged.

COVID-19

IS IT SAFE TO STILL HAVE MY DOG WALKED?

 

Yes, it is still safe and we would recommend trying to keep your dog on its regular schedule as much as possible. This will reduce any anxiety and stress that your dog may begin to feel during this period of isolation.

Safety and cleanliness have always been a top priority at My Dog Spot.

 

It is our ongoing policy to wash hands and use sanitizer between each visit. In addition to these ordinary precautions our walkers will now wear a new pair of sanitary gloves for each appointment.  

 

At pick up and drop off, we will use our own leashes to walk or transport your pups so that your leashes are not handled by anyone other than you and when returning your dog, we will make sure that your dog has been wiped down from head to tail including all four paws.
